‘The Big Bang Theory’ is an American sitcom initially based around five characters living in Pasadena, California – Leonard Hofstader, Sheldon Cooper, Penny (whole surname has never been revealed), Howard Wolowitz, and Raj Koothrappali. The four male characters in the show are all physicists and they get to know Penny as she lives opposite Hofstader and Cooper who share an apartment. ‘The Big Bang Theory’ was created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, both of who serve as both head writers and executive producers alongside Steven Molaro. The show first aired on CBS in September 2007 and at first the uptake was a little slow, failing to make the top 50 in the ratings for season one and only just sneaking in at 44th for the second season.
